Welcome to the newsletter!

Updated: Feb 15

The Magyar Reformed Church stands as a beacon of community life in Central New Jersey, and we are thrilled to announce the launch of our monthly newsletter! This initiative is designed to keep our cherished congregation informed, engaged, and connected with the vibrant activities within the church community. Each month promises a rich blend of updates, special messages, and opportunities for fellowship.

In this first edition, we warmly welcome both our long-time members and first-time visitors. By engaging with this newsletter, you will discover the lively spirit of our church, celebrate our community’s achievements, and find ways to participate in our mission—centered on faith, love, and service.

A Short History of the Magyar Reformed Church

The Magyar Reformed Church has served the Hungarian-speaking community in Central New Jersey for over 110 years. Since its establishment, it has evolved into a welcoming space for all who seek spiritual growth and support. Did you know that, over the years, our membership has swelled to over 300 active members?

As the community has transformed, our church’s mission has expanded. While holding on to our rich traditions, we embrace modernity—which appeals particularly to younger generations. For example, our recent digital initiatives have seen a 50% increase in engagement among our youth group.

Through this newsletter, readers will not only learn about our history but also see how each member contributes to the church’s ongoing story.

Highlights of the Month

Each newsletter will feature a section highlighting significant events and activities within the church. This includes everything from regular services and community potlucks to outreach programs and youth happenings.

In 2025, we are excited to spotlight our 50th Annual Festival. Last year’s event attracted thousands of attendees and raised over $10,000 for local charities. Such gatherings foster a sense of togetherness that characterizes the Magyar Reformed Church, and we encourage all community members to participate and enrich our church life through their involvement.

Special Messages from Church Leaders

A vital component of the newsletter is the special messages from our church leaders. These words of wisdom provide insight not just about our services, but also reflections on matters of faith, community engagement, and upcoming projects.

For instance, Pastoral Leader Zsolt Otvos shares his thoughts on faith in everyday life, inspiring all members to remain active in their spiritual journeys. This initiative reinforces the importance of communication, ensuring every voice in our community is heard and valued.

Inspirational Stories

In every edition, you’ll find inspirational stories straight from our congregation members. These narratives will highlight personal testimonies, acts of service, and moments of spiritual growth that resonate with the community.

For example, featuring one of our long-time member who organized a food drive that collected over 200 canned goods for a local shelter. Her story showcases how one person can make a difference and serves as a reminder that each of us has the potential to impact those around us.

Opportunities for Involvement

Our newsletter encourages active participation among the congregation. Numerous opportunities await, from volunteering for community outreach programs to joining our worship team or service committees.

We invite members to participate in our Helping Hands initiative, where we aim to support our home bound elderly members by preparing home cooked meals and providing assistance in their needs.

By fostering participation, the church strengthens its community bonds while extending help to those in need, both within and outside its walls.

Embracing Our Community Spirit

We are excited to embark on this journey of sharing life within our community through the monthly newsletter. This platform will be a vital means of communication, offering insights into church activities, encouraging involvement, and nurturing our bonds.

As you read on, whether you are a long-time member or visiting for the first time, the church extends its heartfelt invitation to join our thriving community of faith. Together, through shared experiences and mutual support, we can continue to uplift the Magyar Reformed Church in Central New Jersey.

Stay tuned for exciting updates in the upcoming editions, and thank you for being a part of the Magyar Reformed Church family!
