MUSIC
“Music is the art of the prophets and the gift of God.” – Martin Luther
Music is at the heart of our worship at the Magyar Reformed Church. It fills our services with beauty, joy, and reverence as we come together in song. Each Sunday, our congregation lifts their voices through cherished hymns from our hymn book, accompanied by the rich, timeless sound of the organ.
Our bilingual services reflect the diversity of our community—hymns are sung in English during English services and in Hungarian during Hungarian services, allowing all to worship in their heart language. Music is not just part of our tradition—it’s a living expression of our faith.

We are blessed to have Dr. Hsin-Yi Tsai, our exceptionally talented organist with a PhD in Musical Arts. Her skill and dedication bring depth, beauty, and inspiration to every service. Through her music, she helps create a worship experience that touches hearts and lifts spirits.
Dr. Hsin-Yi Tsai, born in Taipei, Taiwan, began playing piano at the age of three. She made her international debut at the age of eleven performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15 in San Francisco. Dr. Tsai received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Taipei National University of the Arts under the direction of Michael Dellinger and Alexander Sung. In 2008, Dr. Tsai completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University under the direction of Susan Starr. She has performed internationally in solo recitals, as a chamber musician, and as an orchestral soloist. She has appeared in concert halls in Beijing, Vienna, Salzburg, Taipei, Budapest, San Francisco, New York, among other cities throughout Europe and Asia.
I find great joy in serving the Magyar Reformed Church through music, where I have been part of the church family since 2008.

It is a privilege to support the congregation’s worship and help create meaningful moments through the hymns we share.
In addition to playing during services, I also lead the church choir, organize curated concerts, and provide music for life’s special occasions such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals.

Come visit us for a Sunday Service and let me personally show you the balcony where our beautiful organ stands. I’d love to give you a tour and share its story with you.

Songs of the Heart...
“Songs of the Heart: A Year of Celebration”
In 2026, the Magyar Reformed Church invites you to join us for Songs of the Heart—a year dedicated to the power of music to unite, uplift, and inspire our community.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate the rich musical traditions that speak to our faith, our heritage, and our shared joy. From the rhythms of Hungarian folk music to the peaceful glow of candlelight melodies, our church will be filled with sounds that bring us closer to God and to one another.

This year’s musical highlights will include:
Flute and Piano Concert opening the 2026 series with elegant chamber music.
Szikra Banda brings authentic Hungarian folk energy during the Hungarian Festival, followed by a joyful Children’s Percussion Concert for families in September.
The beloved Christmas Eve Concert returns to close the year. Join us throughout 2026 as music gathers our community, celebrates tradition and fills the season with warmth, rhythm and celebration.
