Church Family Picnic 2026

Our Church Family Picnic on Sunday, September 13, turned out a little differently than we had originally planned. The weather did not cooperate, and instead of gathering outdoors, we moved our picnic into the Fellowship Hall. But the rain certainly did not dampen the spirit of the day!

Following our bilingual worship service, our Fellowship Hall quickly filled with conversation, laughter, children, families, friends, and plenty of wonderful food. There was a warm and joyful atmosphere as people found places around the tables, caught up with old friends, met others they may not have known as well, and simply enjoyed being together.

And, of course, there was no shortage of good food! Hungarian kolbasz, hurka, pecsenye, lecsó, pastries, watermelon, and many other delicious dishes filled our tables. A special treat was the Hungarian donuts (fánk), made fresh right in our church kitchen. We are especially grateful to everyone who cooked, baked, brought side dishes and desserts, served food, set up tables, cleaned afterward, and helped in so many different ways. Thank you to all our volunteers and helpers who made the picnic possible.

The children brought a special kind of energy to the afternoon. Even though the rain changed some of our outdoor plans, they still found ways to play, laugh, spend time with friends, and enjoy being together. Their excitement was a wonderful reminder that the church is not only a place where we worship on Sunday morning—it is also a family where our children can grow up surrounded by people who know them, care about them, and share their faith.
Perhaps the most important part of the picnic was something very simple: we had time for one another. Church life can easily become filled with programs, meetings, responsibilities, and schedules. A picnic gives us an opportunity simply to sit together, share a meal, talk, laugh, and strengthen relationships. These moments matter so much, as they help turn a congregation into a church family.
Our picnic reminded us that Christian fellowship does not depend on perfect weather. The rain may have brought us indoors, but perhaps it also brought us a little closer together.
We thank everyone who came and everyone who helped make the day special. Let us continue to build a congregation where children and adults, longtime members, new friends and families can worship, serve, laugh and grow together.
We look forward to many more opportunities to gather together!
